DESERT ELEPHANT #16

DESERT ELEPHANT #16
The elusive Desert Elephant inhabit the ancient riverbeds of north west Namibia and are very well adapted to living under the particular conditions of the desert. They routinely move great distances between feeding grounds and the scattered waterholes where they drink during the dry season, distances of up to 70 km being regularly traversed. I was privilaged to spend about half an hour watching as this bull elephant scratched against a tree and moved along the dried riverbed.
